The Hainanese chicken rice is prepared using cold chicken spread on a bed of white rice with some cucumber slices. On top of that you add as much chili sauce and dark soy sauce as you want. The hokkien prawn mee is a yellow noodle that looks like spaghetti, fried up with shrimp, small octopus, and other sea food. Think of it as a noodle paella. |
After the church service on Sunday, we often cross the street to the Maxwell Market, an old-style hawker centre. Being served here is claypot rice. The rice is actually cooked in the clay pot, together with salted fish, pork, sausage, and mushrooms at high heat. Delicious! | ![]() |
